Nowadays medicine is a very important aspect talking about health. At this time, there are different types of medicine that are used in the entire world but they have the same purpose which is to help people to heal. People turn to different methods because they do not feel relief or because another person persuades them to use a new way of cure. Even though there are different types of treatments, the most used kinds of medicine are Allopathic and Herbal medicine. These two types of medicine have some characteristics that make them different from each other. The purpose of this essay is to contrast the resorts, efficiency and the way of working of these types of medicine.
According to the Webster dictionary “Allopathic medicine a method of treating diseases with remedies that produce effects different from those caused by the disease itself” (Allopathic, 1993). This kind of medicine commonly use chemical substances, drugs and different types of surgeries because this kind of treatments have a fastereffects and better results in people. Linda Low claims that “this kind of medicine focuses on treating specific symptoms in isolation rather than considering the whole patient” (Linda Low,2008). In this kind of medicine people have to see a doctor, after that, according to their illness the doctor will give the appropriate treatments or medicine in order to relief and avoid the pain. This medicine immediately reduces the pain or unease and if the disease is extremely painful it can turn to surgeries. Most of people think that allopathic medicine is the best because you can immediately feel relief.
Kraft says that “herbal medicine is also call botanical medicine and it refers to using plants and things like that for medical purposes” (Kraft K., 2009). This kind of medicine commonly use seeds of plants, berries, roots, leaves, bark or flowers; it focused on using natural resources in order to people do not have dangerous side effects. Whole herbs contain different elements that may work together to produce a beneficial effect in the organism. This kind of medicine can be focused on a particular symptom or in a general way, for example it takes into consideration the way of a person feels and his/her health not only it pays attention on the disease that it has to combat. Also in this case people have to go to the doctor and he/she will give them the necessary natural medicine to relief the pain but also medicine that helps the person to have a better health in general. The efficiency of this medicine depends on different factors, Kraft claims that “the first one is the type of environment in which a plant grew will affect it, and when it was harvested and processed” (Kraft K., 2009). The other one factor is correct mix up of the medicine; it means that if the mix of the plants is wrong the results will be wrong, to get the results that we want, the mix of the different plants using for a treatment should be the necessaries and the appropiate.
As a conclusion there are different types of treatments that can cure a disease but the most used are Allopathic and Herbal medicine. Both types have the same purpose which is to help people to feel better and to have a better quality of life. In contrast, they have many differences that make them particular in their areas and at the moment of chosing one of them we have to take into consideration these differences. The selection of the best type of medicine depends on our necessities and purposes for that reason; we have to think well before taking a decision. Both types of medicines are good options but before selecting one we have to think in our health and our organism.
